ok i guess now i can write and just slightly miss the last two entries that seem to have disappeared somewhere. listening to the radio show 'american shorts.' first time---"so suspicious...he walked down the street constantly spinning and twirling around." yesterday i got wet in the crum, almost swam and stopped--hmmm, a show about afterlife maybe, voices backed by sliding strings--title 'sound and spirit'
leaves falling, boulders of rusted quartz
diagonal lean on a railroad trestle
he's my rebel
in rasberries
'the cloud of unknowing...imagining an afterlife...and am i born to die...a land of deepest shame unpierced by human thought...what will begin(become) to(of) me...and see the flaming skies"
i should probably turn the radio off so that i will actually start working on my midterm essays.
read an essay today that spent alot of time on poststructuralist theories of language and meaning---relation of difference between terms creates meaning, not some fixed reference beyond the terms---how alike or different is each person's image relationship (the picture or absence of picture) to words in their own language? ways of thinking---words relieving the mind from thought about what they seek to convey, preformed structures (what would it be like to not let words relieve the mind of the effort of wordless imagination); words creating their own forms of thought, the words and their relationships become their own object (gertrude stein and james joyce)---eek, i like thinking this stuff but not writing it.
