sleepy, sleepy in my eyes. read 'windhover' today by gerard manley hopkins and aaron was right--i'm intrigued. looked through a book of his notebooks. he made drawings of plants, trees, water, landscapes--made sounds to take him into things---one syllable rhythms piled!! i guess he was a jesuit, very influenced by loyola ignatius writing--christ mentioned over and over in his poetry---i really need an english accent for his poetry (interesting--accent and poetry)
Not of all my eyes see, wandering on the world,
Is anything a milk to the mind so, so sighs deep
Poetry to it, as a tree whose boughs break in the sky.
Say it is ashboughs: whether on a December day and furled
Fast or they in clammyish lashtender combs creep
Apart wide and new-nestle at heaven most high.

to sleep and to amherst tomorrow to see mr. britt and return some pajama shorts. the world keeps me on a tether--laugh at it, lengthen it, cut it? i got 2nd rainer maria cd from tika today but haven't really listened to it yet. tika--- layers and layers of trees, peach transluscent leaves--
