I'm debating whether writing on the computer can be fun or not, or whether I should return to hand writing or try to get a typewriter (eyebrow, eyebrow)? I fininshed 'portrait of the artist..." today on the back porch of a cabin in the snow up at king's canyon. It was my first time in that part of california and I definitely want to go back. One of my favorite reading spots, cold but the sun was out, and I could sit as long as my attention span would hold me, which matched up just about right with the increasing numbness in my toes. The drive home was depressing, through the central valley of depressing houses facing the freeway, auto wrecking lots, storage lots for hundreds of trucks painted with giant egg mcmuffins and other scrumptious mcdonald's advertisements. We stopped at a marie calendar's in fresno, where my dad was of course scared of stopping in 'bad neighborhoods.'
so everything's done except my poland paper. after tomorrow it will flow from my fingers, happy healthy thoughts ready to pour out (as kierkegaard says). first though, i am taking aaron to the airport in oakland, but first we shall go to the san francisco moma. aaron, aaron. I should write about him but I don't think I have the energy now. I will brush my teeth and get started on 'fear and trembling'. i'm looking forward to a good hard run tomorrow morning before i go into the city.
