hmm, this browser lacks a 'robust' Stylesheet. this tea is robustly gingery and peachy. the back of this woman in red and white checked collared shirt sitting in front of me is quite robust, pulling in creases just under her shoulder blades. what a multifaceted adjective!

back to voice and gesture class...we did lots of walking on parallel and perpendicular lines to the planks of the wood floor and walls of the square room. sometimes we just walked, heel then toe as normal people do. also, used different levels and speeds, then added internal stories to our walking. i've been asked several times in the last couple days to imagine stories out of thin air in my classes. i seem to be gravitating to natural settings--in choreographing communities i was walking by the ocean at dusk with the deep orange sun just above the horizon so i could look straight at it, and an oil rigger or battle ship tiny on the horizon, birds swooping low over the water and picking at bugs in the briny sand (i think this picture is some combination of venice beach and carlsbad)--and in V&G it was a dense forest that i was trying to find my way out of by finding landmarkings i had passed on my way in. i was crawling through thick underbrush, looking for a large crater in the soft, leafy soil. i couldn't find it though, and i switched to looking for another thing i remembered, a huge old tree covered with migrating monarch butterflies. i was looking for a trunk with an orange canopy far in the distance, that might be visible between all the trees directly surrounding me.

while i was walking from whole foods to the bookshop the rain finally came down that's been hanging out all day. huge drops bouncing wildly off the asphalt, going from hard to harder to deluge, a watersigh from the sky then gray/white shining cobblestone clouds and sunshine.

as i was just writing to cynthia, there are too many cars in america (writing to her in india, i felt more aware of this fact of american life, how much cars shape daily life here), and i've definitely been part of the people in their cars phenomenon this past week. i like vulva but i definitely feel better and see more when i'm doing lots of walking.
