sleepy sleepy and smelling like grass. i've been sleeping fitfully the last few days, in five hour stretches as best as i can tell. yesterday i was up so i decided to drive into philly at 6 am. i saw a most unusual sight: on one of the bedraggled young trees next to penn's landing, a squat little parrot-like bird with a green body the same color as the leaves, a coral face, and a bright blue tail i saw as it flew away. where did this tropical creature come from? hillary suggested it was someone's escaped pet. another strange occurence i've been wanting to take note of here--back in durham i wrote something about moths getting pulled under cars, into the turning wheels by the currents of air stirred up by car motion. i hadn't actually ever seen this happen, but had been prompted to write this by some shadows i saw in a street light as i was driving back to erica's late one night. then the next afternoon i actually saw the moment this big white moth got sucked under a car and then wings sputtered on the pavement before dying. you see what you're looking for i guess?
i walked around for a couple hours in west philly/university city area looking for apartments, and getting myself overwhelmed and confused with too much information, too many choices. i wish cynthia was here. some of those old houses are really fantastic--bulbous turrets, walls about to overextend their edges. the whole structure seems to stand together with some very human and less than mathematical precision.
sara's had npr playing all day. what are saddam's sons' names again? whatever they are, they're musical sounding, and they're almost 100% confirmedly by the cia dead. as handel says--
rejoice! rejoice! rejoi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oice greatly! rejoi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oi...oice greatly!
or...dingdong, the sons' of saddam are dead! which old saddam? the wicked saddam!
hmmm, forgive me. ize feeling a little loopy.
