some images from the dairakudakan performance tonight: a giant wooden cross hanging horizontally on thick wires, lifting off the ground unevenly like a broken blind. 22 people in thongs, bodies powdered white, circling and running over the cross. girls with huge black teased hair, studded with red jeweley things, and stiff scrunchy see-through cheese cloth dresses, their faces with strange childlike smiles and their hands splayed open, one out to the side and one sticking out from behind the head. a man (white/thong) with his left leg tucked up, his knee tied to a pegleg, and his right foot wearing a red pump. the other pump is on the top of his head. he discovers he can take the pegleg off and he has a foot on that leg too. the shoe on his head fits on his foot. when he finally stands on both feet, his feet won't stay still, and he skitters and skitters around the stage until he stops and sinks to the ground.
