In some vague, half-conscious, nearly overrided way, I knew to hold out for the details. That's where serendipity kicked in yesterday with an apartment not exactly perfect, but one that makes perfection besides the point because i know i'll love it (i already do), and i think cynthia'll love it too. just a few of those details--a large, appears to be made for cooking kitchen with a bay window, a small bedroom and sitting room with bigplank wooden floors painted cherry red, a clawfoot bathtub with a shower curtain bar that goes all the way around the tub, and an awesome somewhat eccentric landlord who lives next door, has a large turkish dog, and is director of the festivale de cubano, which brings this dance/music group to philly from cuba in october, and he might hire me part-time to help with organizing the festival (i guess i'd help even if he can't pay me). the festival is one of the projects of moonstone, a not-for-profit arts in education organization in philly that mostly organizes more literary events (it was started by the owners of robin's books). he's also a photographer. i wonder if he'd teach me how to develop b&w so i could finally see those 2 year old rolls from london and poland. so yeah, serendipity. just happened to be walking around the neighborhood and saw the sign--the current guy in the apartment just told him two days ago that he was moving out.

what else? Hillary and I rehearsed this morning in Laurel Hill Cemetery. I'm going to housesit this weekend for hillary's boss michelle, where i (and martin and sara) are invited to eat and drink any and everything, and watch pay-per-view movies, and play with doggy cordelia. the bees (bumble and regular) are busy slurping clover in the rose garden in this swimmable heat following an afternoon thunder/lightning deluge. and i just started 'the body artist.'
