well i finally have at home internet access after some help from the nice guy at verizon. this morning dance class got replaced by chores and even right now i might cut this short (after i finish my hot chocolate) and lug my full bag of laundry around the corner and get it done (is 45 minutes enough for wash and dry though? maybe not...) i got another shower curtain yesterday so it's now plastic curtained-in all around the tub. with that in place, it was time to mop up the dirty puddle of water that had collected and rested on the tile under the tub for a couple of weeks now. not very adult i know to let it sit there--laurence chastised me for it when he came to see about the mice. for some reason i hadn't been very enterprising about figuring out how to get it out from under there. the one big ratty towel we have got completely soaked without cleaning up much of the water, and at that time we only had one curtain, so more water was hitting the floor daily anyways. other fairly un-adult things i've done lately (hmm, this is kind of like confession)--i lost laurence's (expired) driver's license out of my pocket along with the postal service slip he had given me to go retrieve a letter before it was sent back. when he said in a sort of statement/question 'so it fell out of your bag' i agreed, so as not to reveal my extreme lack of common sense. and yesterday, after a brief remembrance in the morning, i forgot i had parked my car in the 2 hour 8 am-6:30 pm parking that lines the street in front of my apartment and received a $20 ticket. one count for my adult side though is that i did register to vote in pennsylvania yesterday. besides these things, and still needing a regularly paying job (i'm still hoping on this independent bookstore job to come through--i keep calling but i think i may just need to go by there again) life is pretty darn beautiful. i went on a long bikeride along the river yesterday, up one side and back on the other. much of it i rode no handed which makes me very aware of my spine and the muscles of my torso. there were tons of brown and beige geese on the banks of the schuylkill, and when i started my ride around 5 pm there were lots of crew teams and solo rowers out. then in the evening i went to the final dress rehearsal of the play topdog/underdog. philly theater company is putting it on, and hillary is doing a dramaturgy internship there so she was able to invite me. it would be extremely interesting to compare the experience of watching this play with my previous two evenings activities--tuesday, ortlieb's jazzhaus, this narrow dark wood bar/restaurant with live jazz every night, and monday, this spoken word poetry reading by Lamont Dixon followed by an open reading at the skyline room (you take the elevator to the roof!) of the free library. i'm not sure i'm up to it right now but i think it'll stay in my thoughts.
maybe i'll try to write more about
